It was fall of 2017. Neither of them fancied the idea of meeting someone through a dating app, but their friends convinced them to give it a try. In Dallas you can feel pretty small in a big city, so the idea was not too far-fetched. Chance found Emily on “Hinge” and some would like to say the rest is history, but Emily had other plans.
The two messaged back and forth for a while, and both were initially attracted to each other from their profiles. Chance sent Emily a message, which she never replied to. Emily was flying back to Dallas after Thanksgiving and Chance decided he could not let this girl go. Chance messaged Emily again saying he wanted to take her out to dinner. Emily immediately replied and figured she’d give it a go.
The two met at Beto and Sons in Trinity Groves for Tex Mex. The minute Chance stepped out of his truck, Emily knew he was the one. How did she almost let this guy slide! The dinner went so well, that Chance took Emily to Sablon Chocolate Lounge for a gourmet dessert to finish the night.
Two days passed by after their first date, and Emily still had not gotten a call from Chance. Emily felt pretty confused and thought everything went great. Meanwhile, Emily took it upon herself to look Chance up on LinkedIn, which Chance still teases Emily about to this day. Emily being the go-getter she is, took advice from a co-worker, “if you really like him, just call him.” Come to find out, Chance’s roommate (now groomsman) Mike, had given Chance the advice to make her wait for a few days for the perfect impression.
Cierra, Chance’s older sister, and her family would be coming into town for a weekend getaway before baby #2, Lincoln was born. Cierra contacted Emily the week of and inquired about activities for kids, and she had Emily fooled. Emily and Chance were to meet Cierra and family at the Dallas Arboretum midday to allow little Emerson to run around and let out some energy.
The couple arrived and went right to the spot Cierra said she was located. Well, Emily knew the Arboretum up and down, as it’s her favorite spot in Dallas, and Cierra was not at the spot that she claimed. The two looked and looked, she was definitely not there. Chance turned to grab Emily’s hand, and the minute he said, “So Emily,” Emily knew this was it! Emily doesn’t remember anything that Chance said after his first sentence, but we all know Chance is the sincerest guy and it was very heartfelt. Chance hired a photographer who caught the whole thing on camera. After the proposal, the two went across the street to Smoky Rose, one of the couple’s favorites, where Cierra and family were to actually meet them. Emily was playing with Emerson and visiting when Chance tapped Emily on the shoulder to turn around. There, she was surprised by her parents, sister, brother-in-law, and Chance’s parents. The celebration continued at Katy Trail Ice House with their friends.
The day was absolutely perfect and Chance could not have planned a better day!
Emily and Chance are all about experiences. Together they’ve enjoyed going to see the Dallas Mavs, Dallas Cowboys, OSU Cowboys and LSU Tigers. They've traveled to Fredericksburg Wine Country, Seaside, Europe and Africa.
Their greatest experience will be their wedding day and they cannot wait to spend it with you!
